Lucky

Lucky

The inappropriately named ‘Lucky’ (usually affectionately called Lulu by the benevoles) came to the refuge in 2019. Arriving as a young, energetic and large Labrador cross, he hadn’t been socialised very much at all with the outside world, other than for any essential trips to the vet, so he pulled like a train, was rather reactive towards other dogs and wanted to launch himself at any cat remotely within his radar! At the same time he was pretty shy of strangers, but intelligent, affectionate and playful, especially loving to play ball and return the ball to your feet. We honestly thought he would be very quickly adopted.

Lucky is now 7 yrs old and these days, after a little work on his lead skills, walking him is such a pleasure that he often accompanies some of the handicapped visitors after a play session. We all adore him, to be honest, and it’s a mystery as to why he is seemingly completely invisible to any potential adopters. With other dogs it all depends on temperament, and living with another dog is potentially possible, but he would be perfectly happy to be the only king of the household. A little shy at first he soon gains confidence, is obedient, healthy, always full of energy and ready for a good walk; Lucky would be the perfect, sporty companion for a cat-free household. At the refuge he has learned to be much more tolerant of those cats he sees, but for safety’s sake it’s probably best that he doesn’t live with any! Chipped, vaccinated and castrated, Lucky is waiting to meet you!

If you can give this endearing dog the opportunity to live up to his name, come to meet Lucky, or call/email for further info at:
