Shortly before Christmas an English couple were walking their dogs in the L’Absei woods when they heard excited barking, their own animals had scented something and gone deeper into the thick undergrowth and thankfully their owners followed them.  They discovered two emaciated Border Collie tied to a tree by a chain, something we have all heard happens, but until you see it in real life you just don’t believe that man can do such things.

Both dogs were rescued and turned out to be little boys of about a year old.  Thanks to the quick thinking of the rescuers, Hope learned of their fate and contacted the Orfee Association who came to the rescue.  They took the poor dogs to one of their foster homes and cared for them until they could be re-homed.  Today I heard the good news, both dogs are starting new lives in good homes, another happy ending which could have been so different but for people who went out of their way to help them.
