In memory of Douglas, a brave dog.

Douglas was one of those rescue dogs who should have lived a long and happy life, sadly it was cut short when he contracted cancer of the jaw and he left this world too young at just 18 months old.

For the Orfee Association who rescued and re-homed Douglas, the heart-break is unimaginable and all our thoughts are with them.  Animal rescue is a tough business.  If anything can be learned from this tragic experience it is to never ignore unusual lumps and bumps, if your dog is out of sorts that’s his way of telling you he doesn’t feel so good.   Perhaps with such an illness as cancer Douglas would have died anyway, but where there is life there is hope and let what happened to this brave dog be a wake up call to us all.
