“Maxou”

Passed away Tuesday 4th October 2011 aged 17 years.

Beloved friend of Suzie, Tommy and Bobby and dearly missed by Eddie and Pete Griffee.

Rest in peace little man, your passing leaves a hole in all our hearts but your courage filled us with pride for knowing  you.

Maxou’s Story.

Maxou was at least fifteen years old when he was taken to the vet to be put to sleep after his elderly owner died. The vet being a caring sort of chap took pity on Maxou and contacted the Hope Association asking if there was anyone who might be willing to take on an elderly and somewhat ailing little Yorkie with very bad teeth, an enlarged heart and water on his lungs!

We were contacted and Maxou arrived in February 2010, still recovering from the anaesthetic after a major extration of most of his teeth.

It took a very short time for him to worm his way into our hearts with his feisty character and his bouncy personality and within just a few weeks he had completely changed the way we thought about “yappy little dogs”.

He had days, of course, when he wasn’t too well and a nasty infection during last winter; his arthritis played up occasionally and his eyesight was diminishing, but every time he bounced back and became his old self again, following the other dogs when they went for a walk and eating his food with gusto.

But now our well-loved little Maxou has passed away on 4th October 2011, in his seventeenth year, feisty until the end, leaving us with such happy memories of him.  He lies in our orchard between two beautiful peach trees where we can often pass and think of him.  We consider ourselves very lucky to have known and loved him even for this short time.
