Goodbye old Hercule

It is with great sadness that we today learned of the passing of old Hercule the Belgian Tervuren who was rescued in January of this year.

Named after the famous Belgium detective, this amazing old dog was rescued with the help of the Orfee Assoc. and Hope volunteers when he was discovered in great distress, half starved and chained up.     We have not been able to tell his story in full whilst he was alive for legal reasons but now he is gone, no one can ever hurt him again.

Hercule surprised everyone when he survived his life long ordeal, living in squalor at the end of a chain, in fact I seem to remember that he had four chains around his scrawny old neck.  He was rescued by some very brave people and found happiness at last in the loving home of Leeanne and Mike at Twighlight.  They have cared for this old dog since, and when I was last down there a couple of months ago he was still going strong, albeit on pretty heavy pain killers once a month.

We remember you old friend as a happy brave dog.  You died peacefully with no pain and your friends by your side;  would that we could all go that way.
