She came through the cat flap….

But she was not a cat!  but a half starved, utterly exhausted little dog, who couldn’t crawl any further.  With a large broken chain around her neck she lay their on the kitchen floor surrounded by animals and humans alike who could only look at her in wonder.

We don’t know her name but she is a pretty little girl, probably about 6/7 years old. Her condition is dire and she is visiting the vets today.  Wherever she came from it was long way away, and what now. What has life in store for this brave little dog.

All we do know at the moment is that she will need loads of tlc and peace and quiet and someone to foster her until she can be re-homed.

UPDATE: Sadly not all stories have happy endings and after a visit to the vet’s it was discovered this dog had cancer in her pelvis and was in great pain. She must have been suffering for a long time and so the decision though sad, was not a difficult one.

Little No Name was typical of so many neglected French dogs, chained up for most of their lives. We will never know what drove her to break away from her chain on a stormy night and find her way to the safety of an English home, but at least she died in peace and not forgotten in some ditch.

Please, if you can safe a dogs life, do it and don’t pass by.  If you see a dog in obvious distress, please find out why and do what you can to help, and perhaps we will be able to save next one. Sadly we were too late this time.
